Shanmuga Priya , 7 years old, is diagnosed with ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia) on February 12^th 2010. She was admitted in Kanchi Kamakoti Child Trust Hospital in Chennai. She was started on Induction chemotherapy and then consolidation chemotherapy.  Later on October 2010, she was admitted in the hospital again for persistent fever and after tests it was found that her cancer got relapsed with 29% blast in the peripheral smear. Parents were told about the poor prognosis and a need for bone marrow transplantation.  She is currently admitted in Christian Medical College, Vellore and undergoing chemotherapy treatment. Dr. Biju George, Department of Haematology is treating her and she has been advised to undergo a bone marrow transplantation.

The current treatment of chemotherapy is estimated to be 8 Lakhs ($17500) (Details available in Important Links) which she is undergoing now and the bone marrow transplantation is estimated to be around another 10~12 Lakhs ($26000).
